Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, early in elementary school, Ron developed an interest in art while attending free drawing classes given by the Cleveland Art Museum. He was always intrigued by the realism in still life painted by the Old Masters and the soft colors of the impressionists.
He works in pastels and oils and paints still life and landscapes. More recently, he has been identified with his pear paintings. His pears are a still life with a twist. Instead of surrounding the pears with kitchen objects or household treasurers in a static composition, the pears take on human attributes, like hovering in family groups or standing alone as an older, fatter single. Individuals and corporations throughout the country collect his works.
