Leila Ashton's portraits are currently held in numerous collections throughout
the Southeast and from coast to coast. An accomplished artist as a teenager,
she continued to study and produce art alongside her career as a music teacher.
After her children left home, she was able to invest time in serious and
intense study of portraiture, gathering instruction from classes, workshops,
museums, art magazines, and from a very large array of art books.
She is very grateful to have been able to study pastel portraits with some
of today's finest portrait artists, such as Daniel Greene, Constance Flavel
Pratt, and Vincent Chiaramonte, among others. Demand for her work has grown,
and for several years she has been able to paint portraits full time,
work she loves to do.
Leila works in several media, with nearly half of her work being in pastels.
Besides portraits, she also enjoys painting florals and occasional landscapes.
She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, a Member of Merit of the
Portrait Society of Atlanta, and a Member of Excellence of the Southeastern
Pastel Society.
